Yes!
The food is delicious and the portions are huge which may not be a good combination haha. Be careful though, the red sauce is really spicy
A taste of New York food carts in Chicago. Great food, reasonable prices, and fast. Careful with the red sauce
White sauce hot sauce you name it, its all good.
So, I wasn't even hungry, but I happened to be walking down the street and the amazing smell beckoned me in. I ordered the smallest entree, and told myself I'll just have a few bites, and will save the rest for later. But before I could stop myself, I've inhaled an entire gyros sandwich. THAT SANDWICH WAS SO FREAKING GOOD! Everything about it was good, but I think the standout was the tahini sauce and spicy sauce. Although, the cashier warned me that the spicy sauce was very spicy, and it only tasted mild to me. One downside is the lack of space. There's only a bar in the front window for you to stand and eat in. And if you're here during winter, when everyone is wearing big poofy down coats, expect to be cramped by people trying to walk out as you eat.
White sauce over chicken is the best thing ever.
The hot sauce is hot, the food is good, the gyros are messy and the place is small, what more could you ask for? Absolutely nothing! When you're hungry this place hits the spot! The platter is the better deal if you're hungry. Only thing I wish is they had fountain drinks like menu says in a few places. Thank you for a great meal
Hands down best fast food you can eat! Also, halal which makes it more perfect for my liking.
Food is always amazing never a bad time there. But I am shocked to see that they are closed down
NYC institution that brings delcious combo plates of grilled chicken and gyros. Be sure to get extra white sauce. Hot sauce is amazing but HOT!!
The halal guys in Skokie is better. I’ve been to this one a couple of times and everytime it’s not that great. It seems that they are not serving fresh food just the leftovers from their rush hour.
I must have gone to late cause they ran out of almost everything. I had gone previously and it was great. This time not so much.
The stuff is great. The food could have been better, e.g. the salad was dried out and tahini sauce was insanely bitter, a sign that it's very old.
Get the white sauce.
Didn't like it but would like to try again & change my review
Drove for 2 hrs to Chicago because I love Halal Guys, unfortunately the location I usually go to was closed. But this one was open, we got there 40 mins before they closed and the guy there served us one platter when we asked for 2. We told him politely that we asked for 2 and he got very upset and asked another customer if he heard us ask for 2. My wife is soft spoken and asked him why he was behaving like that and he started ranting about not wanting to deal with our character. I didn’t want any problems and said it’s ok we’ll just take this one platter. He said he would not sell us anything and took the platter from us. Horrible experience ! Will never visit this place and would recommend no one does for their safety.
I wish there was an allergen menu available in the restaurant. Other than that, the food looked and tasted good.
Nice place amazing staff and the food is awesome
Compared to the original platters you get from the carts in NYC, they're much pricier and don't get as much. If you're looking for something familiar /halal in town it's okay but could be better in my opinion.
So unprofessional. I seen a worker by the name of Faith Armour scream at a an employee while there was other customers in the store, telling him to “Get out” and all he was doing was standing there waiting. I come in and I always see Faith screaming at the same employee which I think is extremely unfair and is why I’m writing this review so the manager could see this and evaluate his employees. They’re really unprofessional which most likely makes the customers feel uncomfortable because of the hostility and tension there. At the loop location a worker by the name of Queen Armour is known for cyber bullying people. She also is very rude to customers and all she does it sit down and rolls her eyes when customers comes in. To add on top of that The food is starting to taste like trash because the employees there don’t know how to set up the plate.
Just walked out this place because of how rude the counter person “Angelo” was. As I walk in this guy is dancing like he has an unfulfilled wish to be part of the circus more than run a food counter .I asked him what type of fries do you have” I dunno, they just fries to me” I asked are they thick cut, steak fries , curly fries... he cuts me off saying how am I supposed to know they just fries to me.To which I said no need to be rude and starts shooting his mouth again and while he is going on his rant, drops the F word( I don’t think it was directed at me, but just one of those force of habit things”I mean in a city were we are now spoilt for choice in terms of food options the complete customer experience will make and break customer base’s.Might get away with this in NY but Chi town is different.Going to avoid this location in the future for sure
Real nice white sauce, nice employees. Good and affordable food
Place is good. Big portions. Really simple menu, not sure how it's confusing. Meat isnt dry, rice isnt dry, sauce is awesome. I feel that even the veggies are fresh. Going to be a regular at this place!
What’s shawarma without tahini and hummus? Not shawarma. On a Saturday afternoon they told me they were out of hummus and tahini after ordering. Gosh, my dreams were squashed
It was my first time eating here and I wanted to to try it because I've heard good things, and it was great! The place is very small and there's only a few tables available and staff was nice! There's no bathroom or wifi here and parking is mostly street parking.I got the regular chicken and gyro combo, with white sauce and a bit of BBQ sauce! The meat was very tender and flavorful, it was delicious itself. Everything tasted so good together and seemed very fresh.I recommend this place for a quick bite or for good delicious food. It was about $11.50 for a pretty big portion!
I highly doubt that this place is halal, when i asked for certificate they told me it's in back and you can not go to the back, is that for workers? does this make sense? IF YOU HAVE THE CERTIFICATE WHY DON'T YOU KEEP IT IN FRONT SO COSTUMERS CAN SEE???!!! By the way the girl is sooooo friking RUDE i am asking her question instead of answering it she is saying if i want the food or nor what the hack is that??? It was on June 17 around 4pm
Decent place I like visiting sometimes. Good gyros if you hit it fresh, imo best time to eat here is 8-9pm.
Tasty gyro. Lots of delicious beef. Pleasant staff. Price was a little high, but it's Chicago.
The food is so good but people work there they are not friendly at all
Food was really good. Wife and I each had a combo platter. Avery had awesome customer service, and was quick and clean. Service that good at 1130 pm deserves good praises.
I usually love this place and food but today they let me down 😩. It was some food items that were sold out or ran out and the appearance and taste of the combo plate made me not want to come back for a while and I work in the area. Maybe it was a bad day I came on. I hope to come back on a better day with a better rating.
Platter. With chicken. White sauce and 2 lines of red sauce
Host Shareef gave me and my beautiful girl wonderful service. He made the experience fun and interactive and I will not hesitate to recommend or return back to this location. Give this man a raise!
Hmmmmm.....Delicious!Tried the large combo platter....which consist of chicken/gyro in platter extra meat, green peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, jalapeno peppers, white/red sauce with pita slices. PLENTIFUL& FLAVORFUL Oooooooooooo Taste so GOOD!DEFINITELY WORTH A 1ST TIME VISIT😍
I usually prefer this location because the pitas are freshest at this location. We got there at around 7:30, they were making fresh chicken, 30 minute wait. Out of fries. When the chicken was finally done, it didnt taste fresh. It wasn't even hot. Possibly a bad night? I'd go again.
I was looking forward to my regular platter - they ran out of gyros and the staff was trying to convince me to get the chicken, and I politely declined. They had nerve to say, well it is what it is Be gone. I’m like excuse me and when I asked to speak the manager the employee who literally was covering up the badge said you can just talk with me and that’s it. I found this experience horrible as I tend to be a regular. Sorry guys I can’t stand horrible service.
Always love Halal Guys. Their white sauce really is just mayonnaise where I come from. But still all their food is amazing.
Really enjoy this place. Simple straightforward menu. Doesn’t compare to the actual cart in nyc but still very good. My criticism is that I wish they’d put more meat and less salad/rice. The white sauce is amazing. The red sauce is literally fire 🌶🔥(be careful how much you add). The price is kind of high for casual street food though so I docked a star ⭐️
The food here is amazing!!!! So good!!! The Gus behind the counter are always nice and so fast!!! This is my go to place in the neighborhood when I need a quick meal... cause they are never skimpy on the meat!!!
Best and pretty quick so you can avoid fast food and eat something better and tasty. Love their white and hot sauce with chicken and beef gyros combo.
This place used to be so great but has gone completely downhill. Food was cold and the rice was disgusting. Won't be coming again.
I ordered a gyro from this place and it was disgusting. I was giving the burnt, greasy, dried up pieces. I know this because the guy after me tried to order the same thing, and he was told they were all out. So i was given the nasty whatever was left pieces. I took two bites and had to throw it away.the second bite was generous. Never going back.
Pretty disappointed. I love Halal Guys in Midtown Manhattan. This was my first visit to a Chicago location. Service was adequate. Gyro meat was room temperature. I took it to-go but ate it after leaving. There were no napkins provided in the bag. Will probably go to Mr. Gyros next time.
Avery is a damn STAR. Great food and great service.
Wish I was at the cart in NYC but while in Chicago, it was as close as u can get. Very good ! And the white sauce with a drip of the hot sauce.. 2 thumbs up in my book
Everytime i visit NYC halal guys is a must place to visit. when i found out that there was a branch in chicago, i was excited like never before. I was very impressed with the place. The food was delicious and veymuch camparable to the original. I read a lot of comments on yelp that "there more nore lettuce and tomato than chicken and rice". When I visited this place I was surprised, all i had to do was tell them add less lettuce and tomato. Staff was very accomudating, friendly and knowledgeable. I had nothing more to expect from this place. Now, i am glad there is a halal guy place close to me. Also, I'm knocking off a star because they did not have spoons at this place. All they had was knife and fork and I'm a guy who eats rice with spoon.
The food is amazing, the service is even better! It's fast and consistently delicious. The employees are all really friendly and quick to get everyone's orders ready.
We had halal guys two meals straight but my husband got stomachache that night
